Deborah Mooney - Candidate for Sheridan School Board

Q: What will be your top priority as a school board member in the upcoming term?
A:My top priority as a school board member will be to work with the community to create a shared vision for the Sheridan School District. It is important to me that people know their voices can be heard regardless of where they live in this district. My message is simply “building bridges of communication.” It is by sharing ideas and dreams for our own children that we begin to have a greater vision for ALL the children of the Sheridan School District. I believe we can work together to create a shared vision and develop the action steps needed to accomplish that which we imagine possible for our schools and our community.

Q: Why should the people of East End vote for you?

A: I have three main expectations for the schools when I leave my children at the door each morning, and I believe we share these expectations.
One, we want to know that our children will be SAFE throughout the time they are on each campus.
Two, we want to know that our children have teachers who CARE about them as individuals.
Last, but certainly not least, we want our children to have highly qualified teachers and administrators that have a laser like focus on high STUDENT ACHEIVEMENT.
I will work with you to ensure that every student on every campus has equal opportunity. I have been a teacher and a principal on two different campuses in the Sheridan School District over the last 17 years. I am a parent of four children in the Sheridan School District. I believe I bring an added perspective to the table with these expectations and experiences in education. I am asking for your VOTE on September 20th.
